The HISTOS can reliably and consistently perform microwave fixation of tissues at preset temperatures, for a variety of solutions, such as PBS, TBS formalin and FineFIX without the damaging effect of excess heat often associated with domestic microwave ovens.
The uniformity of fixation is also enhanced by the built-in magnetic stirrer. Only five to ten minutes at 50°C is required with formalin, for small biopsies.

Rapid Microwave Gross Hardening is made possible with a newly developed closed histomodule. It allows sampling of difficult to cut speciments in only 60-120’.

Decalcification

An ideal application for the HISTOS. The efficient stirring continuously keeps the bone surface in contact with “fresh” decalcifier, positively influencing the equilibrium.

Four programs at 37°C or 50°C are preset in the control terminal.

With the HISTOS you can process the decalcified bone marrow biopsies in less than 90 minutes for same-day permanent slides.

Histochemical Staining

Several time consuming staining procedures are enhanced by microwave irradiation. With the HISTOS a dedicated histomodule C allows a drastic time reduction for special staining procedures.
Preset programs guarantee operator independent, consistent results.
